Tashi InfoComm Limited (TICL), Bhutan’s first private mobile company came into existence after the Tashi Group of Companies, outbid three other joint venture companies on 6th October 2006 and won the License to operate cellular mobile services for 15 years.
TICL is governed by the Board with Mr. Wangchuk Dorji as the Chairman and Directors comprised of Mr. Topgyal Dorji, the Vice Chairman of Tashi Group of Companies; Mr. Tshenchok Thinlay, Managing Director of Tashi Tours and Travels; Mr. Dupthob Wangchug, Director of National Pension and Provident Fund; and, Mr. Tashi Tshering, the Executive Director of the company.

TICL has adopted Global System of Mobile Communications (GSM), the most versatile, dynamic and widely deployed cellular Technology for its Network. TICL, popularly known as TashiCell, has its service available in 7 western Dzongkhags of the country at present, namely: Thimphu, Paro, Haa, Chhukha, Punakha, Wangdue and Samtse. TICL has set its target to roll out networks to all the districts by the end of year 2010. Besides voice and SMS based services, it provides plethora of Value Added Services (VAS) such as CRBT, Pushmail, Email, Internet Browsing, and MMS in various packages to suit varied customer needs. Within a period of six months, it has registered customer base of 60,000, which is a huge success considering that the total population of our service area is only about 300,000.
